Abstract Pesticides, nutrients, and ecological stressors such as competition or predation co‐occur in freshwater ecosystems impacted by agriculture. The extent to which combinations of these stressors affect aquatic populations and the role of nutrients availability in modulating these responses requires further understanding. Relation of early tumor shrinkage (ETS) observed in first‐line treatment to efficacy parameters of subsequent treatment in FIRE‐3 (AIOKRK0306)

We explored the association of early tumor shrinkage (ETS) and non-ETS with efficacy of first-line and consecutive second-line treatment in patients with KRAS wild-type metastatic colorectal cancer treated in FIRE-3. Assessment of tumor shrinkage was based on the sum of longest diameters of target lesions, evaluated after 6 weeks of treatment. Shrinkage was classified as ETS (shrinkage by ≥ 20%), mETS (shrinkage by 0 to20%), mPD (minor progression0 to20%) and PD (progression ≥20%). Surgical Treatment in Symptomatic Chiari Malformation Type I: A Series of 25 Adult Patients Treated with Cerebellar Tonsil Shrinkage

Background: The variety of symptoms and radiological findings in patients with Chiari malformation type I makes both the indication for surgery and the technical modality controversial. We report our 5-year experience, describing our technique and critically evaluating the clinical results. Methods: Between 2012 and 2016, 25 patients (15 female and 10 male; mean age 39.2 years) underwent posterior fossa decompression for Chiari malformation type I. Muscle activity patterns and spinal shrinkage in office workers using a sit–stand workstation versus a sit workstation

Reducing sitting time by means of sit-stand workstations is an emerging trend, but further evidence is needed regarding their health benefits. This cross-sectional study compared work time muscle activity patterns and spinal shrinkage between office workers (aged 24-62, 58.3% female) who used either a sit-stand workstation (Sit-Stand group, n = 10) or a traditional sit workstation (Sit group, n = 14) for at least the past three months. International audience; Electro optical techniques are efficient backside contactless techniques usually used for design debug and defect location in modern VLSI. Unfortunately, the signal to noise ratio is quite low and depends on laser power with potential device stress due to long acquisition time or high laser power, especially in up to date technologies. Under these conditions, to maintain a good signal or image quality, specific signal or image processing techniques can be implemented. In this paper, we proposed a new spatial filtering by stationary wavelets and contrast enhancement which allows the use of low laser power and short acquisition time in image mode.

Objectives: The present study examines the influence of cavity type, and size of composite restorations on cuspal flexure due to polymerization shrinkage. Methods: Thirty healthy premolars were selected and divided into two experimental groups. Group 1: Mesial, mesiodistal, and MOD cavities were successively prepared in each tooth by means of the SONICSYS approx system (KaVo ®) using a nº 2 (small) diamond tip. Imidazo[2,1-b] [1,3,4]thiadiazoles with antiproliferative activity against primary and gemcitabine-resistant pancreatic cancer cells

A new series of eighteen imidazo [2,1-b] [1,3,4]thiadiazole derivatives was efficiently synthesized and screened for antiproliferative activity against the National Cancer Institute (NCI-60) cell lines panel. Two out of eighteen derivatives, compounds 12a and 12h, showed remarkably cytotoxic activity with the half maximal inhibitory concentration values (IC50) ranging from 0.23 to 11.4 μM, and 0.29–12.2 μM, respectively. A new tuning parameter selector in lasso regression

Penalized regression models are popularly used in high-dimensional data analysis to carry out variable selction and model fitting simultaneously. Whereas success has been widely reported in literature, their performance largely depend on the tuning parameter that balances the trade-off between model fitting and sparsity. In this work we introduce a new tuning parameter selction criterion based on the maximization of the signal-to-noise ratio. To prove its effectiveness we applied it to a real data on prostate cancer disease.
